Public Art PDX 3.5.0

Public Art PDX offers a comprehensive exploration of the extensive public art collection available in and around Portland, Oregon. With a dynamic map feature, users can identify the location of over 600 artworks throughout the metropolitan area, ranging from historic statues and fountains to contemporary photography, architectural integrations, and murals created this year. Each artwork is accompanied by images, descriptions, and artists' statements, easily accessible with just a tap.

The app provides various functionalities:

• Locate art nearby based on discipline, such as sculpture, painting, fiber, or ceramics.
• Tap on a pin to view an image along with detailed information about the artwork and any associated artist's statements.
• Uncover hidden art within public buildings, including fire stations.
• Explore neighborhoods previously unvisited to discover new artistic experiences.
• Utilize your current location on the map to navigate among the various works of art.
• Search the collection using specific criteria such as title, artist, or medium.
• Share insights and information about particular artworks through social media platforms.

For visitors currently outside of Portland, the app features a planning-your-visit mode. If it detects that you are out of the area or unable to ascertain your location accurately, it automatically defaults to a map view showcasing art in downtown Portland. Users can then navigate this map to identify artworks for future visits. Once in Portland, your location will be indicated on the map alongside the artwork, enhancing orientation and exploration.

This initiative is developed in partnership with the Regional Arts & Culture Council, the City of Portland's Bureau of Technology Services, and the team of former Mayor Sam Adams.
